The US is opening borders with Europe: Here are the facts
The United States after months of promise is finally reopening its borders with the European Union. The original announcement on September 21 didn’t provide a specific date, but that early November is when the scheduled opening is to take place. This has since been resolved and an official date has been announced. This is great news for individuals who haven’t been able to see their families for the past 18 months and those that have businesses that thrive on tourism in the US.
This is what we know so far.
Since the original announcement, the United States has declared that it will open its borders to the EU on November 8th. As for who will be allowed to travel, the ban has been lifted from 30 countries including the EU have been removed from the ban list. For those that are planning on arriving, only the vaccinated will be allowed in. Vaccines must be on the FDA approved list or are on the World Health Organization emergency use list (EUL). They will also need to show proof of a negative Covid test, PCR or Rapid test.
This announcement also changes testing requirements for US citizens. Those that are vaccinated, only a small change. You still must present a negative Covid test as well as presenting your CDC issued vaccine card. For unvaccinated citizens, you must now show proof of a negative Covid test 1 day prior to your return trip to the US.
